‘Day-O’ nearly cut
Despite being one of the most iconic scenes in the movie the ‘Day-O’ sequence very nearly ended up on the cutting room floor.
The scene - which sees the possessed dinner party guests dance and lip sync to Harry Belafonte’s 1956 song about a banana boat - wasn’t initially considered funny enough by Burton, and so went to remove it.
However, the director eventually changed his mind, and the scene would go on to become one of the most memorable moments from the movie.
The song was also used at Otho actor Glenn Shadix’s funeral in 2010.
