Atari
The Atari 2600 was first released towards the end of the 1970s but became one of the best-selling consoles of the following decade, with more than more than 15 million sold in 1983 alone along with more than 150 million individual games cartridges.
However, Atari's games machine contributed to the video game crash in America from 1983 to 1985, due to oversaturation in the home gaming market and the release of numerous poor quality games none more notorious than 1982's Atari adaptation of 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial'.
