Care Bears

These colourful bears were originally painted in 1981 by artist Elena Kucharik to be used on greeting cards from American Greetings but were quickly made into plush toys. From 1983 until 1987, more than 40 million were sold and some are so highly sought after as collectibles these days that they can sell for thousands of dollars.
