During his time in the Faces, Rod also began releasing his own solo albums, which showed a softer side of the rock vocalist.
In 1971, Stewart scored his first solo success with his third album ‘Every Picture Tells A Story’, which featured the smash hit single ‘Maggie May’, reaching number one in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
The track went on to be named in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
