Joining The Jeff Beck Group
After meeting legendary blues guitarist Jeff Beck, Stewart joined The Jeff Beck Group in 1967 as the band's vocalist.
There, the star experienced his first taste of success, as the blues-inspired group toured the UK and US and released two albums ‘Truth’ and ‘Beck-Ola’.
However, in July 1969, Stewart parted ways with the band, recalling a hostile working environment was taking hold.
He later said: “It was a great band to sing with, but I couldn't take all the aggravation and unfriendliness that developed ... In the two-and-a-half years I was with Beck I never once looked him in the eye – I always looked at his shirt or something like that.”
