Early life

Rod was born on 10 January 1945 to a working-class family in London, though didn’t begin his music journey until much later.

While he didn’t have much to say about his school life, Rod picked up the hobby of railway modelling, which he still loves doing to this day.

Before he got in front of the microphone, the young star worked a number of odd jobs, including a gravedigger role at Highgate Cemetery in North London, where people like Karl Marx and George Michael are buried.
