Crispin Glover
George McFly is one of Crispin Glover’s best-known roles, but the actor only ever appeared as the character in the original ‘Back to the Future’.
After the success of the movie, Crispin demanded a fee of $1 million for the sequel, which was rejected by Universal Pictures, which led to the star walking away from the franchise.
The studio then decided to keep the character for the follow-up flick, and cast Jeffrey Weissman in the role, who was made up to look like Crispin.
As a result, the actor was infuriated by the decision to use his likeness without his permission.
He later said: “They stole something, and it’s illegal to steal something, it’s really that simple.
“[Produceer] Bob Gale is quite literally a thief, no exaggeration.”
In 1990, Crispin successfully sued the producers, claiming that his rights of publicity were infringed, and was awarded $760,000.
