Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes appeared as Rachel Dawes in Christopher Nolan’s 2005 superhero flick ‘Batman Begins’, but the actress wasn’t keen to return for its sequel.
Instead, Maggie Gyllenhaal played Bruce Wayne's love interest in 2008’s ‘The Dark Knight’.
The official reason for Katie spurning the sequel was that production clashed with her work on her other project ‘Mad Money’.
A spokesperson for the actress said at the time: “Katie was offered [‘The Dark Knight’] but was unable to accept the role because of scheduling conflicts. She was in the process of negotiating for another project. In addition, when she returns to work, she would like to tackle a new character.”
Despite departing the franchise, Kate had nothing but good things to say about her director, and insisted she didn’t regret her decision to turn down the sequel.
She said: “I had a great experience working with Chris Nolan [and] I'm sure it's going to be a great movie. [But] I chose to do this movie [‘Mad Money’], and I'm really proud of it.”
