Michelle Pfeiffer in The Silence of the Lambs
‘The Silence of the Lambs’ is a terrifying but spectacular picture and the movie could have seen Michelle Pfeiffer star opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins as the cannibalistic killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
After working with director Jonathan Demme on his 1988 film ‘Married to the Mob’, Pfeiffer was offered to appear in his upcoming horror flick as Clarice Starling but decided that the flick was too "evil" for her.
She recalled: "I was trepidatious.
"There was such evil in that film. It was that evil won in the end, that at the end of that film evil ruled out. I was uncomfortable with that ending. I didn’t want to put that out into the world."
The part went to Jodie Foster instead and her performance earned her an Oscar for Best Actress.
