TV and Treading the Boards

Raquel's film career slowed but she continued to make regular appearances on television. She performed the song 'I'm A Woman' with Cher on 'The Cher Show' in 1975 and repeated the trick with Miss Piggy on 'The Muppet Show' three years later.

The star enjoyed success on her Broadway debut when she stepped in as a holiday replacement for Lauren Bacall in the hit musical 'Woman of the Year'. Welch received rave reviews and later returned for a six-month stint on the production.

She also earned another Golden Globe nomination for her performance in the 1987 television film 'Right to Die' – where she played a woman suffering from motor neurone disease.
