Big Screen Exploits
Raquel worked prolifically on the big screen in the 1960s and 70s and featured alongside comedy icons Peter Cook and Dudley Moore in the film 'Bedazzled'.
Welch played the love interest of Frank Sinatra's character in 'Lady in Cement' and took a controversial part as the transsexual heroine in the 1970 picture 'Myra Breckinridge'.
She had accepted the role in an attempt to be taken more seriously as an actress but the production was blighted by animosity between Raquel and co-star Mae West – who had come out of retirement to star in the movie.
'Myra Breckinridge' was panned by the critics following its release and Raquel later joked that the "clothes" were the only good thing about the flick.
