Sequels and spin-offs

The original film spawned two direct sequels: The Conjuring 2 (2016), which followed the Enfield poltergeist case in London, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), inspired by a controversial 1981 murder trial.

It also launched the Annabelle spin-offs, The Nun, and The Curse of La Llorona.

James Wan reflected: “We built a universe around the Warrens because there’s just so many stories left to tell.”

Ed and Lorraine Warren’s spooky saga is now set to conclude with 2025’s The Conjuring: Last Rites, which sees the paranormal investigators get drawn into one final battle as they attempt to vanquish a powerful demon tormenting a desperate family in their home.
