Origins
The idea for The Conjuring came from a real case investigated by famed paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Screenwriters Chad and Carey Hayes based the script on interviews with the Perron family, who experienced disturbing events in a Rhode Island farmhouse during the 1970s.
The script floated around Hollywood for years before director James Wan signed on.
He later said: “I love haunted house movies. They’re my favourite kind of horror story.”
