The duel
‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ concludes with a high-stakes duel between the hitman and his old friend Caine, and seemingly sees the end of Wick.
However, Chad Stahelski later confirmed Wick had deliberately thrown the fight and sacrificed himself to allow Caine to live out the rest of his life with his daughter, while Wick can finally find peace.
The director explained: “There’s nothing more personal than a duel to settle disputes. In a world where there seems to be no escape for John, we wanted to show action in a slower way and deal with the emotional resonance.
"We go back to the core of the films: one man against another, with something huge at stake. It’s something Wick must earn. It’s also a nod to some of my favourite westerns.”
