The Doors
Thanks to Val Kilmer’s brilliant performance, ’The Doors’ is regarded as a phenomenal deep dive into the rise and fall of Jim Morrison and his legendary rock band.
Directed by Oliver Stone and also starring Meg Ryan and Kevin Dillon, the 1991 picture follows Morrison’s journey from poetic dreamer to self-destructive rock icon - capturing the highs and lows of fame, excess, and artistic ambition.
Kilmer was praised for his hypnotic and intense performance as the singer and poet, and the actor certainly dedicated himself to the role.
He recalled: “I sang every song myself, and by the end, even ‘The Doors’ couldn’t tell if it was me or Jim on the recordings!”
