Batman Forever
Colourful and action-packed, ‘Batman Forever’ delivers a flashy, high-energy take on Gotham’s Dark Knight with a mix of camp and spectacle.
The 1995 blockbuster sees Batman (Val Kilmer) face off against the manic Riddler (Jim Carrey) and vengeful Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) while grappling with his own identity and a new ally in Robin (Chris O’Donnell).
Reflecting on the role, Kilmer later admitted he couldn’t get on with the Batman costume, given the stiff cowl made it nearly impossible for him to move his head or hear on set.
He said: “Whatever boyhood excitement I had was crushed by the reality of the Batsuit.”
While ‘Batman Forever’ isn’t considered the best cinematic outing for the Caped Crusader, it is still fondly remembered as a camp and fun take on the DC hero, with Kilmer’s Bruce Wayne being a particular highlight.
