Hilarious and delightfully absurd, ‘Top Secret! ‘is a cult-classic that brilliantly parodies both war films and Elvis-style musicals.

The 1984 comedy - which starred Val Kilmer, Lucy Gutteridge and Peter Cushing - tells the tale of an American rock star who gets caught up in an underground resistance movement while visiting East Germany during the Cold War.

Reflecting on ‘Top Secret!’ - which was his debut in a feature film - Kilmer recalled how he landed the role by pretending to be a trained singer.

He recounted: “I had to learn 17 songs in, like, two weeks!”
