Shogun wins big
‘Shogun’ was the big winner at the SAG Awards and bagged four prizes.
The FX historical drama show secured the highly-coveted Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, as well as acting awards for both Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada as well as the the Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series accolade.
Taking to the stage to accept the award, Sanada admitted making ‘Shogun’ had been a "gamble".
He said: "Thank you so much for recognising us. This is so special because it is from you guys. Thank you FX and creator Justin [Marks], Rachel [Kondo] for respecting our culture and belief in us.
"It was a great journey and 70 per cent Japanese, with subtitles, it must have been a big gamble for them. They were so brave but ‘Shogun’ and this award is showing is that acting is a universal language. Thank you so much."
Meanwhile, ‘Conclave’ won the SAG Awards’ biggest honour with Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
