Catherine Zeta-Jones believes "working" is the key to her long-lasting marriage to Michael Douglas.

The couple - who have children Dylan, 26, and 23-year-old Carys together - tied the knot in 2000, but the Kill Jackie actress doesn't believe they would have stayed together for so long if they didn't spend so much time away from the family home shooting their respective movies and TV shows.

She explained to The Sunday Times Culture magazine: “Michael is, like, ‘Go and do that job, that’s amazing.’ And then he’s able to fly in and see me for a long weekend. Much better than waking up, going, ‘What do you want for breakfast, honey?’ I don’t think our marriage would ever have lasted if it was like that.”

Catherine, 56, and Michael, 81, moved to Bermuda when they had their children because life in the spotlight was tough.

She said: “It was really hard when I had my babies.

“Living in New York, pushing them to kindergarten, it was really hard because you’ve got [photographers] jumping on the underground with us, and it was awful. That’s when Michael and I made the decision to go to Bermuda and school them there, the best thing we ever did.”
