Sara Bareilles had a miscarriage this year.

The 46-year-old singer has been open about her fertility struggles, and she has now shared that after undergoing multiple rounds of IVF with husband Joe Tippett, she tragically experienced a pregnancy loss.

She told the New York Times newspaper: “It sucks. Of course I wish I didn’t have a miscarriage.”

However, the Love Song hitmaker admitted that, after a tough period - which included the 2024 death of her close friend Gavin Creel, who partly inspired her new album Good Grief - it was a bit of a "relief" not to be pregnant because this era of her life “would be really, really, really hard” if she was carrying a child.

Last month, Sara spoke of how she "wrestled" with not knowing if she could have children.

Speaking on The Zach Sang Show, Sara said: "I really wrestled because I found so little material out in the world of people talking about their fertility struggles.

"I found a lot of evidence of people talking about how hard it was to get pregnant once they had a healthy baby in their arms, but I didn’t find a lot of people talking; it’s not that there’s none, but I didn’t find a lot of people talking from the sort of, like, messy middle."
