Box office success
When ‘The Goonies’ hit theatres in 1985, the movie proved to be a major success.
On a production budget of roughly $19 million, ‘The Goonies’ opened to $9 million at the domestic box office - placing it just behind ‘Rambo: First Blood Part II’ - and finished with a worldwide taking of $125 million.
While the Academy didn’t give ‘The Goonies’ any love, the film won several other accolades, including the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for Anne Ramsey - who played Mama Fratelli.
