Bleeding for your art
After the treasure map was created, production designer J. Michael Riva thought the prop looked too new, and so decided to age it.
Over the course of an afternoon, Riva spent time making the map look older by pouring coffee on it, before coming up with the idea of also adding blood to prop.
However, the drop department had run out of paint, so thinking on his feet, Riva cut his finger and let his own blood drip along the map’s edges.
