Seth Rogen thinks Curry Barker is a rare talent.

The 27-year-old filmmaker wrote, directed, and edited Obsession, the 2025 supernatural horror film, and Seth has hailed Curry for creating a "cultural phenomenon".

Seth, 44 - who previously starred in films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, and Superbad - told TIME: "I was a bit late to seeing Obsession ... so by the time I finally watched it, the movie was pretty hyped up. Even six weeks after it opened, the theatre was sold out on a Tuesday night.

"The crowd was electric. And the movie overdelivered. Laugh-screaming is how I’d describe the sound the audience made. We interacted with the film as though it were unfolding in real life in front of us. It showed a level of cinematic intuition many directors will never have.

"We were on a ride. It was also technically impeccable, beautifully performed, expertly written, all for around $750,000, and by a very nice guy in his early 20s.

"Curry Barker didn’t set out to make a cultural phenomenon, he set out to make a movie with his friend. But a phenomenon is the result."

Curry stars in his new movie, Anything But Ghosts, and Seth believes he is "as good an actor as he is a director".

The Hollywood star shared: "I’ve seen Curry’s next film, Anything But Ghosts — and for those of you who, like me, are uncomfortable with this amount of talent in a person so young, I have bad news ... it’s even better, and, to add insult to injury, he’s just as good an actor as he is a director."

Curry previously admitted to being amazed by Obsession's success.

The director told The Hollywood Reporter: "When it made $27 million, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know that was an option. Like I didn’t think it was mathematically possible.

"It became a word-of-mouth movie. I started going to the theatre to sneak in and watch the film too because I wanted to be part of this thing."
