Makeup issues
Although Sloth’s prosthetics are certainly very impressive, John Matuszak had to sit in the makeup chair for five hours every day while he was transformed into character.
Matuszak then had to wait for his other mechanical prosthetics to be added - including Sloth’s lopsided eye, which was operated by a remote control offscreen.
Given it was a rather intricate mechanism, the cast was told to avoid getting Sloth’s eye wet at all costs, though unfortunately, the gadget did eventually have water accidentally splashed onto it - delaying production for a whole day.
