Nolan is renowned for using as many practical effects as possible and it's no different with 'Interstellar'!
The director wanted to avoid relying on green screens and opted to focus on filming on location in Alberta, Los Angeles and Iceland to ensure the actors could have a genuine feel of what they were performing against.
Still, that didn’t mean the flick was without visual effects.
In total, the picture came in at 800 terabytes of data with some individual frames taking 100 hours to render.
