When Nolan met McConaughey

Before they met, Nolan and McConaughey had developed some preconceived notions of one another.

The director thought the 'Dallas Buyers Club' star was an intense actor who took his work incredibly seriously, while the Hollywood star believed the filmmaker was a perfectionist who would follow his vision to a tee.

However, after they started working together, Nolan found McConaughey was very laid-back, while the actor discovered the man behind the camera was open to suggestions, and liked including imperfections as they made the movie more authentic.
