Murphy misses out

Before starring in Nolan's 2023 epic 'Oppenheimer', Cillian Murphy wished he has been able to play the lead role in 'Interstellar'.

The actor was keen on playing the ex-NASA astronaut Joseph Cooper, though the director always knew he wanted to cast Matthew McConaughey as the character.

While Cillian missed out on 'Interstellar', Nolan later said he knew he made the right choice giving the role to McConaughey.

He recalled: "I admired him as a movie star and I knew he was a good actor, but I didn’t know how much potential he had until I saw that early cut. It was a transformative performance."
