Boosting tourism
The colossal success of 'Miami Vice' saw a huge influx of tourists to a city that had not been attractive to visitors beforehand.
Johnson told Rolling Stone: "When we were there, it was all retirement apartments that were dilapidated and rundown.
"We painted the facades of virtually every building up and down Collins Avenue and Ocean Avenue to match the color palettes that we had for the show."
Many Europeans visited Miami afterwards as 'The Vice Effect' had a lasting impact on the area's hotels and restaurants.
