After the first series, it became abundantly clear that Don Johnson's Crockett was far more popular then Philip Michael Thomas' Tubbs.

Reports of a feud between the pair circulated but these were denied by Thomas - who preferred to be in the shadow of his co-star.

He told People: "I like Don a lot. We have a good time.

"I liked that Don was getting the publicity. I wanted the mystique. The bigger he got, the bigger we got."
