3) The Force Awakens
When Disney bought the franchise in 2012 and announced they’d be making more ’Star Wars’ movies, fans went ballistic.
And why wouldn’t they? Seeing Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher back in their roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Carrie Fisher after a 32-year hiatus was a dream come true for many, and Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes reflects that.
The 2015 film is perhaps best-known for seeing Han Solo perish at the hands of his fallen son Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) which broke the hearts of fans over the world.
Still, Ford maintained that it was the right decision.
In an interview, he said: “I think it’s a fitting use of the character. I’ve been arguing for Han Solo to die for about 30 years, not because I was tired of him or because he’s boring, but his sacrifice for the other characters would lend gravitas and emotional weight.”
