With a disappointing score of 51%, ‘Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker’ divided movie-goers with its strange story and mind-boggling character choices. From resurrecting Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) off-screen to back-pedalling on The Last Jedi’ decision to make Rey (Daisy Ridley) a nobody, many agreed that the movie wasn’t great, with some pointing out that the picture highlighted Disney’s poor-handling of the franchise due to a serious lack of planning.
In an interview where he reflected on the 2019 film, director J. J. Abrams admitted that “having a plan is the most critical thing”.
