Cynthia Nixon
In ‘Sex and the City,’ it was Samantha who had breast cancer, but when the series wrapped it was Cynthia Nixon - who played Miranda - who was diagnosed with the disease for real in 2006.
The actress initially kept her condition under wraps until April 2008 when she went public with her illness on 'Good Morning America'.
Since then, Nixon has become a breast cancer activist and became an Ambassador for American breast cancer charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure - named after Susan Goodman Komen, who died of breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 36.
Cynthia's advice for women is "get your mammograms and don’t delay".
