Going solo
During her divorce from Ike, Tina asked for nothing more than the right to keep the use of her stage name, and she went on to reinvent herself as a solo star as she approached 40.
Throughout the '80s, Tina established herself as one of the biggest female solo acts in the world.
The highlights were many, including her hit singles 'What's Love Got to Do with It', 'Private Dancer' and her cover of Al Green's 'Let's Stay Together', all from her chart-topping 1984 album 'Private Dancer'.
In 1989, she released her signature solo song 'The Best'
In 1986, Turner was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and her first induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for her work with Ike, came in 1991.
Her induction as a solo artist came some 30 years later, in 2021.
