The hits start to come
Ike and Tina released ‘A Fool In Love’ and reached number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was described as "the blackest record to ever creep into the white pop charts since Ray 'What'd I Say' that previous summer".
The Ike and Tina Turner Revue quickly became one of the hottest acts around and singles
The hits kept coming and, in 1966, they caught the attention of ‘Wall of Sound’ producer Phil Spector who negotiated their move to his label, Philles Records.
Their most famous collaboration ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ – now considered one of the greatest songs ever written – underperformed in the US but proved to be a hit in the UK and Europe, providing Ike and Tina with a new audience.
