James Marsden – X-Men: The Last Stand

James Marsden had played the laser-eyed Cyclops in Fox's X-Men franchise since the eponymous movie in 2000, but when director Bryan Singer left the series to make 'Superman Returns' (2006) the actor thought it was time to call it a day.

Much to the dismay of Cyclops fans, the character is killed off-screen in 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006) and only reappears in the 2014 follow-up 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

When ScreenRant asked the actor if he would consider returning as the hero, he said: "We did three of them, I was part of three of them, and you become a family. You really do love these characters, the cast, the crew, everybody -- and the same thing's happening on this film, which is kind of bringing back memories of that experience. So I would always be open to that, revisiting that world."
