Sonic the Hedgehog franchise

The blue blur successfully outran the so-called video-game movie curse, with the Sonic the Hedgehog films becoming a major family franchise following the original picture's release in 2020.

The 2024 third installment was particularly well received, earning an 86 per cent Tomatometer score and a 95 per cent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film brought Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Tails (Coleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba) together against Shadow (Keanu Reeves), while Jim Carrey returned as Dr. Robotnik.

The franchise has made more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office and a fourth film is slated for release next year.
