From pen to screen
Before Michael Crichton’s novel Jurassic Park was even published in 1990, director Steven Spielberg was convinced it had the makings of a blockbuster film.
He urged Universal to acquire the rights, and the studio agreed—on one condition: Spielberg had to direct it before moving on to his long-planned passion project, Schindler’s List.
He accepted the deal, and the rest was history.
