Days of Thunder star Randy Quaid has taken aim at Tom Cruise in a bizarre rant, slamming the actor for making a “horrible choice” casting Anne Hathaway and not including his ex-wife Nicole Kidman in the film follow-up.

Tom hit headlines when he announced over the weekend that he and Anne would be starring in the sequel to the 1990 action classic, which he will also produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper.

Anne is believed to be taking on the role of a race team owner and engineer in the movie, which is due for release on 2 June 2028, but Randy - who played Tim Daland in the original film - made it clear in a series of social media posts that he’s not on board with her casting.

In a tirade on X, formerly known as Twitter, Randy took aim at Anne and her Democratic political stance, as he wrote: “Anne Hathaway is a leftist, woke, horrible choice for DAYS OF THUNDER NASCAR audience who are MAGA.”

Randy went on to say that Nicole - who played Dr Claire Lewicki in the first film - would have been a better choice.

He continued: “The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea.”

He also insisted that Anne isn’t “sexy” enough, particularly given that she’s pregnant, and urged Tom not to take things personally as he added: “It’s not personal; it’s filmmaking.”
