Shaughna Phillips: 'Love Island wouldn't be my top three career choices for my daughters'
Shaughna Phillips is unsure about encouraging her daughters Lucia and Sofia to follow her into showbiz, insisting that "Love Island wouldn't be my top three" career choices for them, but she would give Lucia and Sofia her "unwavering support" if they chose to enter the entertainment industry.
Shaughna Phillips has admitted Love Island would not be a top career choice for her daughters.
The TV personality, who shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show's first winter series in 2020, would give Lucia, three, and Sofia, 10 months, her "unwavering support" if they wanted to follow in her showbiz footsteps, but the relentless nature of the industry has put Shaughna off recommending it to them.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz on behalf of BetWright Casino: "It's very cutthroat and it's got a sell-by date. It's a bit like being a footballer; you’ve got to make the most of it as and when it comes."
The unpredictability of showbiz has left the 32-year-old beauty feeling like she has been "on a hamster wheel" for the past six years, admitting the uncertainty of self-employment can be "f****** terrifying".
Ultimately, Shaughna wants Lucia and Sofia, whom she has with her ex-boyfriend Billy Webb, to "have the world at their feet, whatever they want to do" - insisting that "Love Island wouldn't be my top three" career choices for them.
She joked: "I am aiming more towards Downing Street than the Love Island villa for them."
While she is happy to support her daughters in whatever they choose to pursue, Shaughna admitted she is not quite ready for Lucia to discover her time on Love Island, where she struck up a romance with Callum Jones before he recoupled with Molly Smith in Casa Amor.
The star said: "I've still not broached my children, or at least Lucia, who's three, seeing me in anything on telly.
"I think that's going to be an absolute mind-blowing moment for me because I don't know if I'm ready for her to ever see that or even know that that happened."
Despite being reluctant for Lucia to see it, Shaughna fondly reflects on her time in the villa, admitting she would love to relive the experience.
She said: "It was amazing. I wish I could go back being a 25-year-old and relive it again and enjoy it. Because when you're in it, it's the same with everything in life: you take it for granted when you're in the moment."
