Box office glory
When Jurassic Park stomped its way onto screens in 1993, the blockbuster soon proved to be a major success.
On a production budget of $63 million, the film opened with $47 million, and went on to make $357.1 million in the U.S. and Canada and $621.1 million globally - making it the highest-grossing movie of the year.
As well as its box office glory, Jurassic Park earned three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Visual Effects, and went on to win all three accolades.
Although Jurassic Park missed out on a Best Picture nod, Steven Spielberg had little reason to be disappointed - his other film that year, Schindler’s List, took home both Best Picture and Best Director.
