The star played the lead role in supernatural drama 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' between 1997 and 2003 but was unhappy with the darker approach the show took in its sixth season.

Gellar said: "I felt it betrayed who she was."

However, she remained for the seventh and final season and now appears set to reprise her role in a reboot.
