Keira Knightley
Even though she starred in one of the most treasured action-adventure franchises ever with ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, Keira Knightley was less than happy with her role as Elizabeth Swann.
The actress - who appeared in the swashbuckling series from 2003’s ‘The Curse of the Black Pearl’ until ‘At World’s End’ in 2007 - said she hated the character for being nothing more than a love interest for Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner and Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.
The 'Bend It Like Beckham' star reflected: "[Elizabeth Swann] was the object of everybody’s lust … Not that she doesn’t have a lot of fight in her. But it was interesting coming from being really tomboyish to getting projected as quite the opposite.
"I felt very constrained. I felt very stuck. So the roles afterwards were about trying to break out of that. I didn’t have a sense of how to articulate it. It very much felt like I was caged in a thing I didn’t understand."
