Will Smith - Independence Day 2

‘Independence Day’ is one of Will Smith’s biggest movies in his Hollywood career, but the actor seemingly wasn’t all that fussed about its sequel.

The ‘Bad Boys’ star - who appeared in the 1996 action movie as Captain Steve Hiller - was presented with the offer to reprise his role for the 2016 sequel ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’, but ultimately decided to walk away from the negotiating table in favour of appearing as DC Comics character Deadshot.

Smith later said: “It was one of those things - I had a couple of films lined up, and so it was a decision, timing-wise, between ‘Independence Day’ and that film.”

Once it became clear that Smith would not be returning for the follow-up, Jessie T. Usher was brought on to play Hiller’s stepson Dylan - with it being revealed that Steve had passed away in between the two movies.
