The Shawshank Redemption
Even though it's now touted as one of the best movies of all time, 'The Shawshank Redemption' certainly didn't put out an award-winning performance at the box office.
On a budget of $25 million, the 1994 picture ended its theatrical run with a disappointing $72 million.
Despite its poor financial performance, 'The Shawshank Redemption' fared much better at the Academy Awards and nominated for seven Oscars - including Best Picture.
Reflecting on 'Shawshank Redemption' earlier this year, Tim Robbins – who played wrongly imprisoned banker Andy Dufresne – said: "We’re at 30 years now [on from] ‘Shawshank Redemption’. When it came out it got good reviews, it got nominated for Academy awards, but nobody saw it."
