'Braveheart' of details the struggles between the Scottish and English in the late 13th century, so you'd expect the picture would be shot in the Highlands – you'd be wrong!

In fact, the movie was shot on Ireland's Emerald Isle, which angered many.

Still, the studio chose to film in the country because the Republic of Ireland offered the moviemakers considerable tax breaks, as well as allowing its army to appear in the flick as extras in fight scenes.
