One final chance

After learning about the story of William Wallace during a visit to Edinburgh Castle, writer Randall Wallace decided his final attempt of fulfilling his moviemaking dream would be penning a script for the Scottish legend.

He recounted: "I thought I had one more chance to write a film before I had to go do something hideous, like become a lawyer."

The ball properly got rolling once Mel Gibson got involved.
