Joanna Lumley's lucky role

While Joanna Lumley is excellent as the endearing Aunt Emma, the ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress wasn’t always going to play the character.

In fact, the part was offered to ‘Mary Poppins’ star Julie Andrews, though she was forced to turn it down because she was still recovering from an ankle injury.

This allowed Joanna to swoop in and take the part.
