Leonardo DiCaprio is said to be a fan of Jersey Shore.

The Oscar-winner, 51, who is famously private about all aspects of his life, once asked to meet the cast of the reality television hit Jersey Shore, according to actor Simon Rex, who said he introduced the A-lister to the MTV stars during a night out.

Simon, 51, spoke about the encounter while appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show.

During a taping of the programme’s Thursday (12.03.26) episode, Drew, who is also 51, asked Simon to confirm whether a series of statements about his life were true or false.

One of them suggested Simon had introduced Leonardo to members of the Jersey Shore cast at a club.

The Red Rocket actor and former MTV video jockey confirmed the story during the segment, explaining the meeting happened when Leonardo noticed the reality television personalities sitting nearby while they were out in the same venue.

Drew guessed that the statement was correct, prompting Simon to confirm it.

Simon said: “That happened, yeah.”

Drew then asked him to describe the encounter.

Simon said he and Leonardo were not close friends but would greet each other when they crossed paths.

He said: “I'm not friends with Leo, but I'd say what's up to him.”

Simon explained he had approached Leonardo while they were both at the club, with members of the Jersey Shore cast sitting at another table nearby.

Simon said: “[DiCaprio] goes, ‘Is that the Jersey Shore guys over there?’”

The actor said he then asked Leonardo whether he watched the programme.

He added he asked Leonardo: “ ‘Did you watch that?’ ”

According to Simon, Leonardo confirmed he did and expressed interest in meeting the reality television stars.

Simon said the star told him: “I wanna meet them.”

He added he then introduced Leonardo to the cast members, saying: “So I brought him over.”

Simon added the reality television stars appeared surprised Leonardo recognised them.

He said: “They were just blown away like, ‘He knows who we are’, and it was just this funny moment where he was talking to them.”

Simon said he then stepped back from the conversation.

He said: “I just sat back, like, I did my work. I'm done here.”

Drew responded to the story during the segment by saying: “Pop culture meets pop culture.”

Jersey Shore premiered on MTV in 2009 and ran for six seasons before concluding in 2012.

The original cast included Angelina Pivarnick, Paul ‘DJ Pauly D’ DelVecchio, Jenni ‘JWOWW’ Farley, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola and Vinny Guadagnino.

The reality series documented the summers of a group of young adults living together and socialising in a beach house.

It later expanded into several spin-offs, including Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which is scheduled to conclude with its eighth season, premiering on 7 May, MTV announced this month.
