A speedy script
Even though it has gone on to be one of the most beloved and well-known coming-of-age movies of all time, writer-and-director John Hughes didn’t spend much time working on the story.
According to Howard Deutch – the director of John's film 'Some Kind of Wonderful' – the creator knocked out the first 50 pages of the script in the same night, before finishing it the following evening.
John's didn’t was any time with his pitch for the flick to Paramount Pictures, and simply described it as: "Guy takes a day off from school."
