Theme song was snubbed by acts
The movie’s theme song, ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ is perhaps as iconic as the film itself.
It was written by producer Keith Forsey and guitarist Steve Schiff and inspired by the movie's plot.
The pair offered the track to Billy Idol and Bryan Ferry to record the song, but both declined.
Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders was also asked, though she too declined, but suggested that her then husband Jim Kerr and his band Simple Minds should instead record the track.
The band agreed, and had a smash hit single on their hands.
